Playing With Acetate

I'm sharing a new technique with you today.  At least it's new to me.  I started with a package of clear acetate or plastic.  You can even recycle and use packaging plastic, especially if you're careful when opening.  Not going to happen with me tho so that's why I bought a package.  I cut a couple of pieces to 4" x 5 1/4".

Because the plastic is slippery and has certain properties a lot of inks will just sit on top and smear when they're touched.  That's why it's important to use a permanent ink like Staz-On or a brand that dries quickly and doesn't smear.  My Favorite Things has one that I like.

I stamped several flower images from Doodled Blooms by MFT and got to work coloring the back of the acetate with some Sharpie markers.

It's really easy and quite beautiful.  Here's the finished card.

I put some foam tape around the scalloped frame with the colored acetate.  It's slightly raised up from the card base.  The flower almost looks like it's floating.  A really neat effect.
