The Crafty Biathlon tests your ability to adapt to obstacles and excel in multiple challenges simultaneously. Below you’ll find two columns – one representing a technique and the other, a type of card. Your challenge is to select one option from each column and combine into one fabulous card!
Ok, I just want to say this was quite the challenge. I finally chose Emboss Resist and combined it with a Shaker card. Here's my entry.
I created the background by stamping the leaves from the Funky Flowers set. It took quite awhile since I used the Misti tool so I could get a good impression with the clear Versamark ink. I had to do it in sections because I applied white detail embossing powder and then heat set it. Finally I had a nice embossed panel. I set about using Distress Oxide inks, Twisted Citron and Cracked Pistachio, and blended the two colors over the embossing. It leaves a beautiful reveal of the emossed leaves. Hence, the technique, emboss resist.
I stamped the cute deer from the January freebie "I Love You Deerly" stamp and used my colored pencils. I added the white spots with a gel pen. After cutting out the square piece from the embossed panel, I added a shaker pouch that you can get at My Favorite Things. These pouches come in various shapes and make it SO easy to create shaker cards. I filled the pouch with some pretty blue, green and marshmallow sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. I adhered the back panel with the deer to the filled sequin front panel and I had my embossed resist shaker card. I stamped the sentiment and added it with foam tape.
So happy to get this one finished. It took me 5 hours. Whew! Challenge #4 is creating a card in 20 minutes. Oh my! It will be the hardest of all.
