I started by stamping the Sunflower Sweetheart girl image on a piece of Bristol smooth white cardstock. I stamped the image again on a piece of masking paper and fussy cut her out. The masking paper has a thin release sheet that peels off and you lay it over your stamped image. When I did this I had a surface that I could ink on and not worry about sunflower girl getting messy.
I thought it was appropriate to use Tim Holtz's Ray stencil and several Distress inks to make a sunshine background. I am happy I decided to extend the rays all around her and not just at the top. When I removed the stamped mask I had her outline and then used Copic markers to color her. I also had to cover her with a clear Wink of Stella pen to enhance her sparkle.
I used a foam panel to pop her up from the main card base. I also love the red card stock I used as it brings out the red in her dress. I think she's beyond adorable. I've got one more challenge to enter at MFT. The ideas are already flowing!
