My grandson is 23, a hard worker, lives 2,400 miles away and I miss him very much. It's been a few years since I've seen him but we talk on the phone as often as we can. Grandmas just do that. It's not work. It's not taken for granted. It's just what we do. I've been thinking of him a lot lately and wanted him to know it. I decided to make him and his girlfriend something to show them I care. He told me they didn't have any magnets for their fridge so I started with that idea.
This is a plain tag 6.25 x 3.25. It's heavy duty cardstock and ready to be transformed.
I covered it with glue and laid thin printed tissue paper over it, sort of bunching it up to give it some texture. I let it dry and then began to "mess" it up. I smeared some paint on in different colors and then sprayed it with some brass and gold stain. I then started to embellish the tags with cut out letters to create their names. I added a few typed encouraging phrases. Done.
I have only dabbled in this kind of mixed media but I'm quite impressed with myself and really like how the tags turned out. More importantly, I'm pretty sure that Zachary and Amore will like them. I love you!!!
