Beautiful Bufferfly

I am surprised this card came together so easily.  I must remember this sketch and use it with other color combinations and design elements.

When i was flipping through my embossing folders I came across this butterfly one and decided to create my card base to emphasize the butterflies for the theme.  Here's a close up.

I love the subtle look but the effect is stunning.  I simply used a couple of small pieces of bright card stock, stamping a sentiment on one of them.  Using a butterfly die that is one of my favorites, I cut it on black paper which is perfect to highlight the overall design. I added the row of pearls for the body.

This same design could be used with lots of different sentiments.  Hello, encouragement, thinking of you, etc.

Elegant Thank You

I made a simple card today with a lot of meaning.  A heartfelt thank you is always appreciated.  We need more love, kindness and appreciation in the world today.  We should all try harder to say thank you for even the smallest of tasks that someone does for us.

I probably send more thank you cards than any other.  The black card base sets the tone for the elegant look.  I layered a piece of pattern paper over the base and die cut a double oval shape to highlight my sentiment and frame.

I tucked a couple of coordinating paper strips under the ovals to give the card a little more interest.  Finally I added some tiny pearls in random places.

Colossians 3:15 says in part, "Show yourselves thankful."  That verse seems to imply action.  Please try and remember to thank all who do good things for you.

Over The Rainbow

Don't you love rainbows?  I love rainbows.  The real ones we see sometimes and even artistic reminders of rainbows.

This is a loose interpretation of a literal rainbow.  The shape is off but at least the colors are right.  I absolutely love how it turned out.  The stamp comes from a set called Over The Rainbow so I guess it was intended to represent one.

I thought it was appropriate that I added some metallic gold thread to the design.  It took some planning to get the spacing and position just right for each color but that's what makes it so beautiful.

I'm sending smiles and rainbows to everyone!

You Send Me Soaring

It's a lot of fun to make cards to encourage someone.  We all need a pat on the back, especially in this cruel world.

I had this night sky paper and it only seemed right to pair it with a big star cutout.  I started with some gold paper as the card base.  Then I cut a star shape out of the night sky paper.  When I added the smaller stars on top it became the focal point of the card.

As you can see in this close up photo I added some tiny pearls to the sky paper which also added some dimension and texture to the flat surface.  All I had to do was stamp the sentiment and add it.

Hum, I think I'm going to hang onto this card to give to a special man.  50 years of soaring through life together!

Plugging Along

Isn't it interesting how you can go along in life day after day and keep to a routine and do all the chores and work on a project until you drop and try to fit in a little fun and help the family stay together and try to maintain a positive attitude and.....then life throws you a curve.

It happens to everyone.  It's called life for a reason.
I love this card because it reminds me of just plugging along.  Except when you think about it, this is a bicycle built for two, so we don't have to go it alone.  We have lots of people in our lives to help us keep going.

I am very grateful to have special friends and family to rely on.  We also benefit from being there for others.  It makes us feel good and worthwhile.  And while strength in ourselves is beneficial, it is  strength with our God, Jehovah, that will give us everlasting life.

"Do not be afraid.  Stand firm and see the salvation of Jehovah."
 Ex. 14:13

Awesome Butterflies

I saw this card design in the current Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog.  Since I recently purchased the Grateful Bunch stamp set I decided to duplicate it.  I love the tone on tone of the lacy stamp on the Pool Party cardstock.

I stamped the butterflies on a piece of watercolor paper and used a punch to create the corners.

I love the addition of of the gold metallic thread as added texture.  This was a pretty easy card to make and I think it has a lot of pizazz.
