Thinking of You

Sometimes you need to put together a card in a hurry.  You want it to be special and pretty but you don't have much time.

Thinking-of-You-1

A summery hot pink color for a basic A2 card begins the project.  I added a bright multi-colored paper and wrapped a white satin ribbon and tied a bow.

Thinking-of-You-2

Using Stampin' Up! framelits Labels Collection I cut pink cardstock and white cardstock slightly smaller.  I stamped flowers using bright colors and a sentiment in black.  I mounted both labels with foam dots and it was ready to go.

Thinking-of-You-3

Hum.  Who am I thinking of today that is very special to me???

Pink Perfection

Pink-Flowers-1

I've got a card to show you that I'm really proud of.  A friend asked me to design and make a card for a special occasion.  It appears very simple but it's quite detailed.  Let me explain.

I began with a 5 1/2" soft gray card base.  I added textured pink cardstock on top only 1/8" smaller.  I used a pretty pattern paper with the gray and pink colors and added it to the bottom half of the card, also 1/8" smaller.  A white satin ribbon was adhered to cover the seam and taped to the back.  Now I was ready to make the flowers.  I used a Stampin' Up! set called Secret Garden.  I used the coordinating dies to cut out the flowers.  I colored them with Copics, put a few layers together and added a pearl to the center.  I die cut leaves from the same set in soft gray.  I used foam dots to pop up the flowers.

Pink-Flowers-3

I love the soft and romantic look to the card.

Pink-Flowers-4

I then took the project to another level.  I used an envelope liner die and cut some of the pattern paper to make it extra special.

Pink-Flowers-5

I then turned over the envelope and made a label.  But no ordinary label.

Pink-Flowers-6

I chose a coordinating pattern paper, cut a decorative label shape from white cardstock and added one of the colored flowers with 3 pearls.  So classy!

Even though the card was time consuming, I felt joy knowing the recipient would appreciate the beautiful attention to detail.

Sugar Pea Designs Sugar Sketch Challenge 07

I have the sweetest daughter.  She told me about a special flavor of gum made by Extra.  It's new and called Cinnamon Roll.  I looked all over my small town for it.  Not to be found.  She said she would send me some.  Sure enough in the mail yesterday came a small package.  All the way from Washington state to Florida.  I couldn't believe it when I put it in my mouth.  Amazing!  This is not cinnamon, but cinnamon roll.  Quite a difference.  I wanted to let her know how much I appreciated the small gesture that meant a whole lot.  I made her this card and will put it in the mail tomorrow.

Sending Happy Thoughts

Hi everyone.  So glad you stopped by today.  I made this simple card that looks difficult to put together.

Pennants-1

I started with a 5" square card base.  I then made a panel across the top using various scalloped edge dies.  I like how I inserted a green cardstock layer to coordinate with the card base.  It can be difficult to line up all the scallops but you just have to work at it some.  I used scraps of cardstock and pattern paper and cut pennant or fishtail shapes.  I adhered them under the deco strip.  A stamped sentiment was added and I called it finished.

Pennants-2

Sometimes you get an idea in your head and it comes together just right.  Other times the idea gets changed in the execution of the card.  That's called creativity!

Miss You Chris

Miss-You-Chris-1

Hi.  This is a card that I made and sent to my son Chris.  We recently moved and he stayed in Kansas City.  He is a wonderful son and I miss him a lot.  I love this little spin wheel and arrow.

Miss-You-Chris-3

I also love the combination of papers, including the one in the background that lists all the months.  So Chris, I miss you in July, August, September, October, etc.  Maybe you will come and visit before November.  Love you lots.  Mom.
