May Arts Ribbon Card

It's hot and sizzling here in Florida and since the official date of summer, June 21, is almost here I decided to show you a card that features HOT colors.

A few months ago I participated in a blog hop with May Arts Ribbon.  I won a spool of ribbon of my choice.  Wow!!!  Please check out their catalog and see the fantastic selection they carry.  It was a hard decision but I finally chose this beautiful ribbon that I've featured on my card.  The ribbon is so pretty that I wanted to make it the star of the show so I decided to use it like long pennants and make the rest of the card simple.

I cut a pretty strip with a Spellbinders die and layered it with a contrasting piece of cardstock.  The card is 5 x 5.  I wanted to have plenty of room to use several strips of ribbon.  I am in love how this turned out and now my head is spinning with ideas for all my other ribbons.

So, I'm sending Happy SUMMER Thoughts to  you.  Thanks for visiting me today.

Inlaid Tree

I made a card using a technique that's been seen a lot.  But this is the first one I've made.  I used the Mighty Oak cover plate die from Papertrey Ink to cut out all of the pieces from a piece of rustic cream card stock.  Then I cut out all of the leaves and the trunk from green dot paper and brown cardstock.   I popped them right back in the holes and adhered the whole thing to a rust card front.

Inlaid-Tree-1

This cover plate makes the process so easy but gives a look to the card that seems complicated.  Here's a close up.

Inlaid-Tree-3

I can imagine all kinds of projects using this stamp and die set.  Are you thinking, spring, summer, fall and winter?

Have a great day everyone!

Sugar Pea Designs Sketch Challenge 04

I love playing along with Sugar Pea Designs Sketch Challenges.  This is number 04 and looks like this.

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew which Sugar Pea stamp set I wanted to use.  It comes from the Sugar Snap Collection and is called Pizza My Heart.

SPDSS04-3

He is so dashing that he really does steal your heart!  I decided to make the banner from the tiny pizza slice included in the set.  Pretty clever I think.  I love this color combination of aqua, orange and brown.  I found paper that COULD be pizza slices although I think they are really arrows.  I worked a long time on this card but I enjoyed the process of creating for this challenge.  You could "pizza" hop on over to Sugar Pea Designs to enter yourself.  I think there are still a few more days.

Each project you link up and share is an entry to WIN a Gift Certificate to the SugarPea Designs Online Shoppe worth up to $15!
